What goes on an outing page

Every outing on this site is a place the site's writer, João, has visited and photographed himself. A page's text is built only from three kinds of material: a fact taken from an official source, with that source linked and a verification date next to it; a caption naming the place and the month and year the photograph was taken; and, where the page carries one, a single marked editorial line that is his own view, added deliberately rather than left to read as fact. No sentence on this site presents an unreviewed opinion as if it were a source-backed fact.

Where the facts come from

Access, cost, season and permit information comes from official pages: the regional tourism board (Visit Madeira), the forestry and nature conservation institute (IFCN) for trails, or the relevant municipal council. Nothing on this site is written from memory or invented for effect. Every fact block links its source and states the date it was last checked.

Photographs

All photographs of real places on this site are João's own. Nothing here is AI-generated imagery of a real place, and no photo that shows a recognisable person's face is used, even cropped.

Two pages kept from the old site

This site replaces an earlier WordPress build. Two of its pages, a guide to the PR 6.6 tunnel trail at Rabaçal and a set of local travel tips, were judged worth keeping and are published at their original web address, reviewed and lightly corrected (dead links removed, one outdated staging link fixed) but not rewritten. They are marked in their byline as carried over from the old site.

Paid links

Where a page links to a car rental search or a tour operator, that link is a paid affiliate link and is marked accordingly. No listing, fact or recommendation on this site can be bought; the paid links only ever point to a booking page for something the page already describes, never the other way round.

Corrections

If something on this site is wrong, out of date or unclear, it gets fixed as soon as it is found. There is no comments section and no review score to game; the fastest way to flag an error is to write to hello@truemadeira.com.
