True Madeira is written by João, who lives on the island and visits the places on this site in person. Only his own name is used here; no last name, no staff page, no invented credentials.

Each outing page is built from photographs João took on that visit, and from facts pulled from an official source: the regional tourism board, a municipal council, or a government body, with the source linked and the date it was checked. Where the site has an opinion to add, that line is written and reviewed separately before it is published; nothing on this site presents an unreviewed guess as a personal view.

Two pages were kept from an earlier version of this site: a family guide to the PR 6.6 tunnel trail at Rabaçal, and a set of local travel tips. Both are marked as salvaged content and kept at their original web address. See the editorial policy for how they were reviewed before this rebuild went live.

This site does not sell anything and takes no bookings itself; where a link leads to a booking page, the editorial policy says so.
